Avidnote is an award-winning digital platform for researchers which makes it easier for researchers to write and organize their work. The application combines the most important aspects of the research process in one interface and thus facilitates the process of producing scientific work efficiently.

The challenges

One of the key tasks of researchers is to read scientific papers. According to a study published in the journal Science, the average researcher reads about 280 papers per year. The process of reading and annotating scientific papers is cumbersome and time-consuming. Despite the importance of reading research papers, most researchers today still take notes by hand. This results in a disorganized workflow which makes it difficult to retrieve research notes and leads to a number of challenges, including:

Keeping track of research notes, references, and citations
Organizing notes by topics, projects, or categories
Collaborating with other researchers or team members
Writing and editing research papers efficiently
Storing and backing up research data securely
Accessing notes from anywhere and any device

The solution

To address the challenges mentioned above, the team at ZenDev came up with an integrated solution where researchers can store all of their research papers, data, and references, in one application that also enables them to retrieve new scientific papers, collaborate, and utilize AI to simplify the process of reading and analyzing research texts.

The finished solution was entirely web-based and could thus be accessed across different devices.
